Altira Macau to Hong Kong: hotel transport guide

Oct 17, 2026 — 7 min read

The most direct way to leave Altira Macau for Hong Kong is a whole private car over the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge: the driver waits at the hotel's entrance, your luggage stays loaded, and the car finishes at a Hong Kong address or Hong Kong International Airport. On Mayline's approved airport route the whole car starts at HK$1,888 in the daytime. Ferries and the bridge shuttle bus cost less per person, but they add terminal rides and queues.

TL;DR
  • Altira Macau to Hong Kong by private car: door to door over the HZMB.
  • Whole seven-seat car, up to 6 passengers; the airport route starts at HK$1,888 daytime.
  • Altira stands on Taipa island near the ferry terminals and airport.
  • Enquiries: +853 2886 8866.
  • Most passports enter Hong Kong visa-free for 7 to 180 days.

Where Altira sits

Altira Macau is the Melco hotel on Taipa island at the intersection of Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen and Avenida de Kwong Tung (the hotel's own getting-here page, checked 18 October 2026). Enquiries: +853 2886 8866; email enquiries@altiramacau.com. The hotel lists itself about 10 minutes from the Macau ferry terminal and heliport, Macau International Airport, the Macau Lotus Bridge border and Taipa Ferry Terminal, and 15 minutes from the Border Gate.

The hotel keeps its own ground-transport options: guests can ask hotel staff for limousine rates and reservations on +853 2886 8888 — the guest fleet includes a Benz S500 sedan, an Alphard MPV and a Maybach, subject to availability — and hotel guests park free for the whole stay while visitors get the first hour free (hotel getting-here page, checked 18 October 2026). Altira shares Melco's printed shuttle timetable with City of Dreams and Studio City; the PDF linked on the hotel's getting-here page carries the current lines.

A whole Mayline car collects you at the main entrance. Altira is a single property on its own plot, so a generic booking still lands at the right door.

The route to Hong Kong

The car runs to the HZMB Macao Port, crosses the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, and clears Hong Kong arrival checks at the HZMB Hong Kong Port, which operates 24 hours (HZMB Hong Kong Port, hzmb.gov.hk, checked 18 October 2026). Macau departure is cleared first at the Macao Port.

Two separate checks apply, and officers decide on the day whether passengers stay in the car or walk through a hall. After the Hong Kong Port there is no second change: the car continues to Kowloon, Hong Kong Island or the airport terminal kerb.

Hong Kong city or Hong Kong International Airport?

Name the destination when you book; the two routes are quoted separately. A Hong Kong city address ends at a building in Kowloon or on Hong Kong Island. Hong Kong International Airport ends at the terminal forecourt for your airline. Airport arrivals get a tracked flight, 60 minutes of free waiting from actual landing, and driver details on the My order page no later than 1 hour before pickup.

The SkyPier ferry at Hong Kong International Airport serves transit passengers only; scheduled sailings have been replaced by charter arrangements, so check HKIA's current transfer guidance before relying on it.

Ferry and bus alternatives

Taipa Ferry Terminal is the Cotai port for Hong Kong sailings and sits about 10 minutes from Altira by the hotel's own reckoning; Cotai Water Jet connects it with Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan and, on some services, the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui; weekday daytime adult singles run around HK$192–194 (checked 18 October 2026). The HZMB shuttle bus (hzmbus.com) links the bridge's two ports for roughly HK$65–70 per leg but stops nowhere else.

The Sands "One Bus" Jordan express line serves the Sands resorts only, not Altira.

Leaving Macau, entering Hong Kong

The procedures are separate. Macau officers clear departure at the HZMB Macao Port; Hong Kong officers clear arrival at the HZMB Hong Kong Port. Nationals of about 170 countries and territories may visit Hong Kong without a visa for 7 to 180 days (Hong Kong Immigration Department, checked 18 October 2026); the Visit Visa / Entry Permit Requirements page lists nationalities needing a visa in advance, and mainland Chinese residents travel under their own entry arrangements. Whether passengers stay in the car at either port is decided by officers on the day.

Returning to Macau

On the way back to Altira, Macau arrival rules apply in reverse. At the HZMB Macao Port, nationals of Macau visa-free countries may stay in the car with a valid passport; anyone needing a Macau visa or Entry Permit clears at the arrival hall or on-board passenger inspection hall and rejoins the same car. Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam passport holders need a Macau visa in advance.
